With the Holidays right around the corner, Opihi Love aspired to create a dreamy story board for an islandstvle Friendsgiving.  While we do live on the gorgeous island of Maui, known for our world renowned beaches, some of our favorite spots are located on the slopes of Haleakala.  Crisp air, mountain views, and beautiful farms always give us a taste of the Fall weather.  Beautiful Upcountry Maui inspired our story board below.

We have been obsessed with Sarah Glover’s new cookbook called Wild.  It’s a beautiful represenation to the true meaning of farm/ocean to table.  Essentially, cooking meals over an open flame, with a slow roast- and a wildnerness vibe.  Our traditional Hawaiian Imu {a family tradition}, is a great collaboration to the fire pit style cooking.  While cooking our pig in an Imu {slow cook overnight}, our starch + sides will be simmering over an open flame fire. Communal cooking at it’s best! Check out her receipes, and cooking suggestions for a scrumptious Friendsgiving.

To compliment your fresh, and colorful food displays, add a holiday themed cocktail!  We love this cocktail from Garnish Craft Cocktail Catering.  It’s called the Cane Burn; the recipe:  fresh pressed apple, pineapple, ginger and lemon, cane sugar, house aromatic bitters, kiawe smoke {grab from your cooking fire}, + white rum!  It’s a perfect pairing to your dinner!

For Dessert, Vanilla Bean Persimmon Pie.  Yes, we love persimmon, and it grows organically on the islands!  Add a little twist to the traditional Apple Pie.  You’ll Thanks US!  Our favorite recipe HERE.
