Helewai Concierge joins our Wedding and Event Planning Process

After years of working in the wedding industry, our team has sculpted the list of services that we do best in order to best serve our brides and grooms. The list of services our team has offered circulates around what we have seen as a priority, and what each of our team members brings to the table. Our team experience has now grown and we are bringing in a new member to bring Opihi Love Weddings and Events to life.

Introducing, Ashley Schenk from Helewai Concierge Services. Ashley’s role is perfectly summarized as, “…negotiating hotel room blocks for wedding guests or corporate groups, planning and booking activities, managing events, and everything in between to ensure an unforgettable experience for you and your 'ohana.”

• What is a "Room Block"?

  A room block is a group of hotel rooms that a hotel sets aside for you at a discounted rate. Hotels normally require a minimum of 10 rooms to be booked on a single night, in order to qualify to receive a discounted room rate. A contracted agreement and a good faith deposit are also normally required.

• What is the advantage of setting up a Room Block?

  Setting up a room block guarantees a certain number of rooms exclusively for your guests at a discounted rate. The discounted rate is typically held for your group until 60 days prior to your scheduled arrival, and it allows the ease of hosting all of your guests in the spot.

• When should we set up a Room Block?

  As soon as possible! Most hotels do not start offering discounted rates until 1-year prior to your check-in date. Also, Maui hotels have seasonal business, (Spring and Summer are the busiest months), so it’s always better to secure a number of rooms that you need. It also gives your guests a good amount of time to prepare and plan their travel and budget appropriately.
