The Opihi Love Mood Board

Finding Inspiration in the Bride and Groom

My team and I have been in the wedding industry for years, so when it comes to sourcing inspiration, I have come to truly narrow down the source that drives my passion for this industry. My extensive career originates from the realm of event production, where I honed in on the skill of maintaining composure amidst pressure. I have a genuine passion for witnessing events unfold, cherishing every step of the journey—from initial meetings with the couple to immersing myself in the planning process, meticulously considering every intricate detail, no matter how minute.

Entering each wedding that our team has the privilege of planning and designing, I draw inspiration from the allure of Hawaii, the enduring elegance of both classic and modern bridal aesthetics, and staying informed of all things bride by curating mood boards and collecting pinned images to fuel my creativity. However, it’s the conversation and communication between each Bride and Groom who chooses to involve my team in their wedding day that gets the ball rolling for all things inspiration.

In its purest form, my wellspring of inspiration initiates with my couples—their lifestyles, preferences, and often, their vision for what they want their guests to encounter during their wedding.

I initiate the inspiration process by addressing the desires and requirements, zeroing in on key elements that hold top priority. For instance, if a couple expresses a preference for incorporating Hawaiian elements into their wedding, my focus shifts to curating remarkable experiences that not only pay tribute to the Hawaiian culture but also resonate with authenticity.

I find much of my inspiration in envisioning what my couples wish their guests, and themselves, to encounter. For instance, if a bride has a background in interior design, I ensure to integrate various elements of furniture and related details that resonate with her style into the wedding.

And at times, it's not solely about their personal preferences; they might envision a garden ambiance. In such cases, I shift my attention to the floral arrangements. Alternatively, if the couple is inclined towards a garden tea party atmosphere, we delve into intricate details, particularly elaborating on the table settings.

Honestly, at the end of the day, each wedding drives my passion and creativity for what I do. Witnessing the culmination on your wedding day, unveiling the space to our couples, and observing the joy on their faces, makes it all meaningful for me. It's the pivotal moment that fuels my passion drives me in my work and inspires my next design project.
